On the problem that stated:
Continue the pattern * ^ * ^
The student asked "What is a pattern?"
And then there was the 2nd grade student who got every answer right. We gave him the 3rd grade test and he was so tickled by the challenge! (He got most of it right too.)
So now the challenge is how to meet the needs of these individual kids when the district has a new math curriculum, a pacing guide for how many days to spend on each unit, expects us to present the lessons as they are, and is telling us to do no supplementing whatsoever. It will be interesting to see how my master teacher handles this.
