9/16 Being Consistant

We were having a problem with kids keeping quiet in line as we moved from our class to recess. This is a problem because we pass by other classrooms on our way. So last Friday, Mrs. S told the class anyone talking in line would have to miss recess. A couple of the boys had to stay in that day, and on Monday when I came back I noticed a big difference in the behavior in line. Each day one or two kids has had to stay in, but overall they are doing much better. Mrs. S says you just have to enforce it for everyone, every time for it to work. So today I saw a girl talking in line and I had to call her on it, even though I didn't want to, but I thought to myself, you can't let a kid off just because they're sweet or you loose all credibility. She is a really nice kid and doesn't get into trouble. It made her cry. I felt bad. But I bet she never talks in line again!
